Default Shift Kit for a 4T60?

Well, now that I realized that I couldn't even put a 4T65 in my car if I wanted to, I was wondering if anybody knew of a place to get a shift kit for a 4T60, or something to use in conjunction with a custom PCM burn to get the shifts more firm....

I read once a while ago that there isn't a 'shift kit' per se but GM released an updated valve body for the trans and it should firm it up enough. I have it on mine, but I also have a handful of other things so I can't say how much better it is with or without. Most transmission repair facilities should be able to supply you with it. There is that line booster that plugs into it but I can't imagine it doing anything the custom PCM won't.

or if its already being pulled apart, have them *not* put in your accum springs... that firms things up a bit too. and i think i'd go for the pcm increasing line pressure before i'd put in a line booster. that'* just me though.

Hmm... interesting ideas Any idea how much a custom burn on the PCM would affect the in-car feel of the shifts?

Well I kinda answered my own thread in the course of a more extensive Googling on the subject. If anybody else is interested, go to this page and do a "Find" for 4t60e :

do the usual internal mods to the 4t60e work with the 4t60(4t440)???

I've got a GM goodwrench Reman trans but I don't know when it was installed

the only transaxle mods I was really considering was the lack of accumulator springs, the HD adjustable vacuum modulator, cooler, B&M trick shift and possibly a Phantom Grip in the diff... (the springs and PG are only if I get another trans and have it rebuilt)

is there anything else possible for the ole hydro 4t60? I've heard shimming mentioned before... is this the same kinda thing as just leaving out the acumm springs?

Bump for Project'* questions, and for one of my own : Anybody know of any LSD application that works with the 4T60, preferably in/on a 96' SSEi?

I dunno if the usually LSD'* that are found on the normal sites (intense ...etc) work in the 4t60E....but Phantom Grip does offer for almost any 4t trans you can think of

now for alot of the heavyhitters here the PG lsd prolly won't hang... but for us lower level power types (I'd be amazed to see more then 250hp while on nitrous ) ...the PG should work very well
