If I did look at getting one, there is a lot more then simply getting the SC unit and gaskets. I need a new computer, belts, and what other stuff? Has any member here successfully did a transplant like that?

65 has some design defects that the 60 doesnt have, trust me I know from personal experience. I believe if you check techinfo it says that only the SSEi'* got the 65 in 97, but I could be wrong.

All trannies were 65'* 97+ guys!!
the relative torque ratings of the fwd and rwd are just on different scales - i've posted it before, and i don't remember the exact numbers, but i believe the 60 in a FWD is about a 40 in the RWD trannies... (ie, the 5L40 can handle about as much as a 4l60 can)
in any event, the barrel of the two is similar. I'm not sure just how similar, but they are similar. different components will be put in different trannies that look on the outside to be completely the same... which is all i was tryin to say. now, if you have two 04KZD'* for example (again, using a RWD example) they *should* (but not always) be exactally the same on the inside, but if you have an 04SHD or even a 03KZD, they could have different components...
'tis all i'm sayin...
