That sounds really, really, unhealthy for the car.

you are correct, it is not very healthy. I put the car in park, popped the hood and rocked the frame front to back, the engine flexed a little but the CAI is loose enough around the pipe it holds shape.

Wuld having a chrome plated intake pipe reflect the heat the same as aluminum tape? Im sure there are chrome pipes that will fit.

chrome is still metal, and metal conducts heat very well.

What insulates it isnt the aluminum tape, its the Reflectix. The aluminum tape just holds it together, as duct tape would not be able to handle the extreme heat of the engine compartment.

I have to repeat a well know law of physics.
Hp will increase by 1% for every 10* F drop in intake temperature. You do the math.

So lets say you go from 150* to 85* (theoretical). You would get 13HP from a Series II NA bonnie.

I'm doing something very similar for the delta... although I'm going more showy with some lit plexi glass top and such. one of the weird little things I'm gonna play with is MAF placement... putting it inside the box a perfect STRAIGHT shot behind the filter... then a slight curve out of the box into the TB... reflective wrapping the pipe and side of the box (the top will be right at the top of the hood) ...also useing stock inner fender holes for ram air and modding my stock headlight bezel with a nice 1inchx4inch hole under the headlights into the box

as for motor mount flex... here'* a really easy fix ... Heavy Ratchet strap... now after you stop laughing.. a ratchet strap was actually Buick performance'* "aftermarket" solution for the GN (they sell/sold it as a "torque strap kit" ) ... what this will do ofcourse is stop the engine from yanking in the direction the engine torques over... what about the other direction you ask? well most of the other direction travel after an engine torques is rebound of the engine mounts pulling it back to where it should be ...if you stop the initial torque travel .. .the rebound travel is basically NILL ... ofcourse this only works real well if your mounts are in good shape to begin with... if all your mounts are degraded .. you'll still get movement... just not nearly asmuch ... This will also help acceleration ... as you'll be putting down more of the power your making .. instead of wasting it winging the motor around on it'* mounts

I know they make poly engine mounts for the GP, I wonder if they work in a bonnie.
