I thought that the size above a 12 in the w7 line was a 13.5? Do they have a 13 and a 13.5?? Or am I totaly off base here?

OK I was just wondering... I'm still new to the whole sub thing and the 13.5 came out of left field at me when I first hear about it... I was just making sure I kind understood what the guy was talking about.

12w7 in sealed box. The port will only make it sound horrid, it'll be more then enough volume either way.

Are you saying you'd go for the 12w7 sealed over the 13.5 sealed?

i heard the jl 12w7 in a jl ported box at Teckla Car Audio in Savage, MN. Even though it was ported, WOW! Still accurate. I'd still rather go with a sealed box, but this huge ported box still sounded nice.

they also had a 8w7 i think and that thing was hitting extremely low frequencies. it was bumping harder of a 600 w crossfire amp than some dual eclipse sub setups, dual jl sub setups.....

Basically JL W7s are amazing

I'd prefer a perfectly setup sealed box. Don't buy a prefab for that behemoth either. I'd try to keep the size as small as possible, as i'm sure that sub requires bigger boxes then most, and more power, as you get bigger.

Are the boxes already made, thats why one is sealed & one is ported? Ported boxes can sound nice if they are properly tuned. Sealed boxes are the more popular and easier to make thats why most go with it.

I was looking at the JL boxes they have a ported 12w7 and a sealed 13.5" that I was interested in,Im pretty sure the jl boxes would be tuned to specs, could be wrong but I'll check their website.
