I found this on insideline.com, found it interesting. About the GXP Concept....

The Bonneville G/XP brings the small car market'* "tuner ethos" to Pontiac'* fullsize flagship. To create the G/XP, the SSEi model'* supercharged V6 powertrain was given increased supercharger boost, a K&N air filter and Corsa Performance after-cat exhaust. The result is 30 extra hp for a total of 270.

As you would expect, the G/XP has a lower stance -- in this case, 1.5 inches lower -- to make it appear to hug the ground. Topping off its performance posturing are 19-inch wheels and cross-drilled, slotted brake rotors with Baer coated calipers.

Inside, the G/XP'* leather seats are designed to keep you more firmly planted while driving enthusiastically. Carbon fiber and aluminum accents heighten the performance feel.

This is from GM Hightech Performance -
The Bonneville GXP concept started as a promotional show car for GM. Dark Argentinean Blue was the chosen color, accented by smoked headlights and taillights, Xenon fog lamps, and tinted glass. The body was dropped an inch and a half for a more aggressive look, and 5-spoke, 19-inch rims showcased mondo rubber and upgraded brakes. The Bonne'* blown 3.8 was treated to a K&N filter, more boost, and a Corsa exhaust system, which pushed horsepower from the stock 240 ponies to 270. And here'* where this saga gets interesting: sometime between February and October, the GXP'* supercharged 3.8/4T65E drivetrain lost out to a 4.4-liter, naturally-aspirated V8 connected to a stronger 4T80E transmission.

It has the grey 00-03 SE/SLE/SSEi buttons, not black and the same model steering wheel...

Probably by the death of the Aurora. Plus it would be hard to move the Bonne upmarket with the same 3.8 in it.

I imagine bigeriks observation correct, and they might have started blowing T65 trannys with the prototypes. The T80 is proven warranty-able to 305 lbs of torque.

Which one? The 3.8 or the N*?

Still don't know for sure if the N* had the Corsa exhaust, or only the 3.8 did.
