Did you take off the cone air filter?
Just the cone. Wouldn't taking off the filter cause crap to get into the TB? When people say they have "gutted" their air box, what do they mean?

taking off the filter and driving around would be borderline retarded.... And Ithink gutting the air box is a 96+ thing...

for SSEI'* series II I recommend nothing larger then 3" dryer duct.
Dont you want as much air as possible?

On the 96+ you remove both resonators, and possibly open the fron of the box like I did. I have about a 4x4 inch opening on the front of my airbox now.

Yes you would.. however when you go larger in our case.. it becomes more restrictive cause there isn't sufficient room between the airbox opening/ headlight housing so if you went bigger you would have to bend the snot out of the tubeing to make it fit between there, thus causing it to have smaller, weirder, more oval, and less laminante airflow ( more turbulance means slower airspeed ).

Yes MOS removed the resonator and it also help reduces turbulance.. but there'* 2 resonator? Mine only had one big honkin thing on the inside of the airbox

Oh, for gutted air boxes it can become a problem. But for cone intakes its different
