push button start on a 99 SE?
Would it be possible to take a whole setup off a totaled vehicle such as a Toyota Venza (I know its a new vehicle, just using it as an example). The Venze uses an RFID chip in the keyfob to detect when your in it. The push button won't work unless the keyfob is within so many feet.
not without tons of custom wiring and work, I did the pushbutton on mine and i put my key in and turn it to the ON posistion and push the button to engage the starter
It all depends on the system. If that part of the system is fairly stand alone and only needs power, they it'* possible. Most likely though it'* quite integrated and wouldn't be an easy swap.
sorry to resurrect a slightly old thread but I remembered reading a thread talking about push button start when I found this earlier.
Seems you can put push button start on any vehicle and it doesn't require the key to be in.

for the size of that module I bet your key either goes inside it or has a blank transponder chip that must be programed in (kinda like a remote start bypass)
00+ Bonneville'* have PK3 and will NOT start without some type of key or bypass. the system I'm sure is simple to install.
