Default PICS $100 -Series I exhaust manis ported and ceramic coated!

Just dropped my freshly sand-blasted exhaust manifolds and crossover pipe off at the local shop that builds and sells Cobra replica'* and does alot of high performance BB engines for them.
Told me $50 to port and $50 for the cast iron color ceramic coating (only color available for that price -$80 for silver or other colors -just no jet hot (mirror finish) ceramic coating there).

Anyhow, if anyone else is interested I might see if I can get a group deal, say 10 sets for $80 ported and coated or $40 ported, etc...
Heck, if these turn out good I'm picking up a set of Series II manifolds and having him port them and some lucky person will get to test them.
Might turn out to be an excellent alternative to for those who don't have $150 for porting or $200 for ported/ceramic coated mani'*.

Will post pictures of the manifolds next weekend when I pick them up. As well as results when installed in 2-3 weeks.
LIM will be ordered very shortly and taken in for that to get ported too. Looking at around $75 for that.

That sounds like a great price! Let us know how they look when you get them back (I mean PICS, pics!!)

If the work is high quality, a set of S2 PEMs might be in my future, budget willing.

One thing I forgot to say in the original post up top ^^^ is that I requested having him grind the internal welds down completely and reweld externally -he said whether I just wanted them ported a little or the welds removed and rewelded externally was up to me -no price difference, so if some want the external welding and some want just want the original welds ground down to match the exhaust runner they can probably have it their way.

The guy also noted that in all his day'* rebuilding/building engines (20+ years) he'* never seen such a beatiful stock exhaust manifold design. Mentioned "...some guy'* pay hundreds of dollars for aftermarket headers that aren't even as good of a design as these."

I wouldn't do that just yet. There'* some unknowns (and some potential problems) with it. I've learned a great deal, and so has ssei1995 (on the flowbench). We're going to compare notes very soon.

Keep in mind one of two cars that has done LIM porting has problems now. And I did too until recently, but I have a totally different setup than you. LIM porting is still risky, particularly if it'* done by a shop that doesn't have a good working knowledge of the S1 L67.

In other words, until I did it, nobody had. And there'* 7 ways to skin a cat.

Lol Bill..... I agree. My LIM porting might have done some bad things to my power curve. Not sure yet.

Ok, that'* two cars that haven't responded well to it out of 3. Too many ways to do it, and even more ways to screw it up.

We are getting flowbench data soon, perhaps. Or at least figure out how to optimize. It IS being worked on, and will be released when we know the answer.

My intent isn't to be the ONLY. I'm fine with being the first. I've shared everything else I've done with the car, and I will share this too, but ONLY when I'm confident it'* right.

Exhaust mani'* sound great. HOWEVER, there'* alot more to LIM porting than it looks like at first glance. There'* a TON of research going on right now, and some ideas simply won't work. Unless your shop has experience with Grand National intakes or Series 1 intakes (NOT series 2 intakes), don't let them cut on it.
