Do NOT use a plumbing coupler. It can stress your plastic upper intake manifold where the throttle body bolts up when the engine flexes and the pipe and filter can't move.

Use a silicon reducer only.

Ditto to what Willwren said. I know exactly what you did. You went to Home Depot and looked for a 4" hose clamp and found the 4" to 3" rubber pipe reducer. I know. It looks *exactly* like what you need. BELIEVE me, I know. It'* very tempting, I totally understand. But especially with an SE, DO NOT DO IT. Like Willwren said, you have a plastic upper intake plenum. Don't use a rubber reducer, it will transmit the flex to your intake. Go with the silicone reducer we pointed you to. We're here to steer you clear.

But I know exactly what you mean. I did a double-take when I saw it, but I've painstakingly read through all the threads on this board about installing an intake, and while the dimensions are right, the material is not. There'* a lot of engine torque flex and you don't want any excess wrenching on your intake. Go with the silicone.

Just so you're aware ahead of time, the 4" diameter end of the silicone reducer will be *just a hair* larger than necessary to fit the throttle body. It'* okay, just clamp it down with the 4" hose clamp I'm sure you've bought by now. The 3" end will fit the ricepipe fine. On my install, my ricepipe enters the 3" end of the silicone reducer at a very slight angle, so that the air filter can fit in the space next to the black plastic PCM box. Some people have relocated their PCM box so their pipe can fit into the reducer perfectly straight. Mine is just slightly angled going into the reducer, but again, clamping it down good with a 3" hose clamp from the ricepipe kit makes it fit nice and snug.

I read before I did mine about the 4" end being a hair large, so it was no surprise to me. I figure you'd appreciate the heads-up.

My next project I think will be all my exterior lights (front, and rear if possible)...what do you guys recommend?

My car makes this wheezing high pitched sound (it always has). Do you guys know what that is? I think it'* my compressor belt, but Im not sure.

Also, my oxygen sensors need replaced as well...do you guys have any recommendations on where to get them?

Get your O2 sensor from gmpartsdirect.com, I just saw a post where someone had the correct part number for it and the price. If I locate it I'll post it for you.

On your lights, what changes are you wanting to make; are you just wanting to replace factory bulbs with bright white aftermarkets, or what? You can get clear corner lenses on eBay, I did that and I like the look on my silver Bonnie.

And you're going to have to get a friend with a digital camera to take pictures of your exhaust and intake job, or we'll hunt you down and rough you up! :P

Does your wheezing sound go up and down with engine speed? My wife'* 01 Grand Prix was doing this, but it was more like a whistling sound and I had it checked out, it was the alternator. As long as the alternator still works, I can live with it.

Or you might have the infamous (and completely normal) "sucking" sound from your new air intake. It kind of sounds like someone slurping from a Coke can. To confirm that just pop your hood after you start the car cold and listen near your new K&N air filter. The gurgling sucking sound is normal and goes away in a minute or so after your engine warms up.

But that'* for a 1992. You might need a different part. PM an admin like jr's3800 and he'll point you the right part number.

As for the lights, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, I mean I have to change my left rear blinker lens, it'* broken. I figure if I'm going to replace it, I might as well make them look cool by replacing them with better looking lenses, if any such thing exists. If so, what options do I have? Not just for the rear blinkers, but all my lights. My head lights, my corner lenses, front blinkers, reflectors, etc.

No the wheezing doesn't go up with speed. It'* the worst when I'm idle, it seems. I mean, it makes my car sound crappy so I absolutely have to do something about it. Yeah i get that intake sucking sound, but that'* not what I mean about the wheezing/whining sound.

ONE O2 sensor. Don't change the one after the catalytic converter.

Lights will be custom whatever you choose. There are some cool mods that have been done in the past here.

Idle problems? Remove your TB and clean it. For noises at idle, look at your pulleys. Lightly spray each one with WD-40 at idle until the sound goes away. Consider changing your belt.
