That setup sounds like a very expensive custom job. I'd love to hear the details of how the 97 PCM works with the various sensors, or whether all the sensors had to be changed.

Custom machining a lower intake to fit the M62 to the ZZP intercooler must have been quite an undertaking, as none of the fastener locations are common.

I just love the way you decorated your engine compartment, mine is similar but without all the mesh. I like it though and specially that air box modification, how can I get one of those and specially the way you had the SSEi stamped on the plexiglass cover. I would like one of those and if its any trouble of making one I would gladly pay for it! Love your car kinda reminds me of mine, but mine is bright white and also I have the accel coils instead of the MSD. which I think I should have gotten instead of the accels! Not sure if their is a difference in performance.

I tried Accel coils. They created a severe predetonation at high revs. Didn't use them long.

predetonation at high revs can be caused by bad gas or from not using high octane or even a bad sensor, I have never experience predetonation even with stock coils. thats something to investigate and look into if experienced again!

93 octane, 2 heat range colder plugs, only occured with Accels in most times I punched it. Put them in three different times, with tanks of fuel inbetween. Happened every time.

yes all sensor are used from a 1997/98 model series ii engine and a special (billet home made) adapter plate modified by showtime automotive machine shop to fit the M62 to the M90 intercooler lower boss section. the adapter plate is not very thick due to height of which the supercharger stands.

They must have been defective accel coils, even if one is defective it could through off the whole timing of ignition.

Accel coils don't like our 3800'*, and they don't provide as hot of a spark as the MSD'*. They're similar to stock coils. We've had very little experience with the Accels here, but most have been bad.

When you get the chance, take pics of that intercooler setup. Sounds like quite an undertaking. I'm very impressed with what you've overcome in your project.

My intake pipe is from ADTR, and is no longer in production. The filter is in my signature (part number) and the CAI/heat shield is custom made. This is my second version, and I still plan a final one. I'm working on the last little piece of this system as we speak

Do you have any performance numbers from your drivetrain yet? hp? tq? 1/4 mile or 0-60 times? I'd like to see how your mods fit in with DrJay and Jeffrey when they get their more recent projects finished. Right now, they're probably our most capable Series 1 L67'* on the club.
