Dan, do you know how many cars here are running MSD coil packs? And for how long? I'm going on 4 years now on the Zilla.

I've had mine almost 2 years and no problems... And they are a direct fit (was quick as changing an air filter)

Like I said, he claimed it needed all MSD parts to make it work, and I thought that was a form of marketing hype....

Was there any noticable difference when you switched to them?

For me, it was a slightly smoother idle and a somewhat noticable smoother delivery of power across the midrange RPM band.

For you, it won't be as much. The 97 and newer L67 coils are hotter than the other GM coils, and only slightly 'cooler' than the MSD'*.

I noticed better throttle response, but couldn't feel any power increase.
