Where I really like it is when driving in the rain. Far less one legged redliners.
Now that is a FWD LSD statement I agree 100% with! They do rock in the rain.

Bill, I talking about 1st gear.
Before it didn't matter what speed in 1st gear, one tire would spin.
1st gear is 0 - 50 mph
The 1-2 shift is usually after the 60 foot time for us.

Now I can nail it about 35 mph and above and the two tires won't loose traction with the Drag Radials.

my first 1 - 2 shift at the strip after my new tranny kinda scared me. It hit so hard and chirped the tires, I though "whooow, that'* kinda cool" Can't say for sure if it was 1 or 2 tires loose, don't recall the steering wheel pulling .

My first WOT shift after I got my trans surprised me as well. Mine was a 2-1 shift and I was fighting the wheel pretty good just to stay on the correct side of the road. I opted not to get an LSD due to funds at the time; but I plan on getting one come spring or summer.

It was after that that I got the lsd and haven't popped a boot since.

Must be just my imagination then but I swear that I can get into full throttle sooner with the lsd. Without it, one wheel used to spin a bit after it hooked up in 1st gear and I went full throttle. :?

Yes clutches wear out. These units need to be rebuilt periodically. No doubt about that. Should last about 25,000 miles......for me that'* 8 years.
That'* why it'* 1/3 the price of a Quaife.
If you don't do your maintenance you always risk damaging things.
Paul, the clutches in your transmission will wear out sooner than the clutches in my diff. They are as hard as Chinese mathematics, self-lubricating, and the plates are heat-treated to 62-65 Rockwell C. The only diffs that blow up are stock units and Intense LSD'*. I have never had an automatic EP-LSD come back destroyed. Two guys running the Getrag 5-speed in sub-13-sec Quad4 drag cars, launching at 5500rpm and 6500 rpm both ran for two years before the spider gears finally shattered. In both cases, I was able to re-use the clutches and plates!!!! the second guy totally destroyed the second unit when he turned up the launch rpm from 6500 to 6800 trying to nail the NHRA class record at 2-sec. under his index. That time, the spider gears jettisoned and the diff, trans, and starting line were ruined!

Sorry if I sound defensive, but I worked for two years on my LSD before I released it and I have customers with over 50K miles on daily driven track cars running in the 12'*, it has been 11.50'* at 450whp in a turbo L67 GTP on slicks before one tire would break loose on the 1-2 shift. So that is what I consider it'* limit, 450whp on slicks. Anyone here have 450whp??????

I am running my LSD in the 4T80E I swapped in my Bonneville. I am giving everything a good break-in before I go to the track. I am running only 3rd and 4th gear right now due to trans control issues, but it will break BOTH TIRES LOOSE at 40-50mph when the turbo spools up! So it'* going to get a good test this Spring!

Thank'* Jeff, for backing me up, glad you stepped in to give the facts.

I'll be putting your Lsd to the test this coming season.

Funny. I paid for my LSD at the same time as Paul. Domestic Performance (Ty Anderson) ate my money.

Otherwise, I'd have one now. He delayed my trans rebuild by almost 6 months and prevented my LSD from even happening.

Now that briings back bad memories.
Bill, you got ripped off

If it wasn't for me contacting Jeff personally and hounding Ty for months.........that'* when it took 8 months to get my diff.

Ty was not a good vendor and would sit with peoples money until he forgot about it was too busy to do anything about it.

But you have to wait for quality.
And this EP Lsd has not disappointed.

I like to hear that; I plan on getting a LSD in the not to distant future. But I'm yet to really go search out and hear people’* opinions of the different LSDs available to us in the 3800 community.

Contact me directly, offline. I did not know about this. I remember Paul'* issue. I finally got paid for Paul'* diff, then it was all on me taking a long time. I didn't know there were others wo had issues with Ty. He'* long gone now... The only companies who sell my diff are Drivetrain.com and Dynotech Performance.
