Default Looking for more hp from my 00 SSEI

I'm brand new to the forum, but have spent countless hours on one similar for Corvettes.

I had a Grand Prix GTP, now the Bonneville SSEI - I've noticed the GTP was quicker and got a little spoiled. A friend had mentioned changing the pulley for the best hp increase - I'm looking for ideas. I've spent $$$ modifiying my Corvette, so the wife doesn't kill me, I need to keep the costs down for now. Any ideas??
Tom

Well, your best options will probably be at www.intense-racing.com but that is also the most costly.

A CAI and smaller pulley will net you immediate increases. Many pulley options for the Series 2 guys, but I'll let one of them chime in. I know my Dinky Series 1 pulleys pretty well, though

We have a few quick 2000+ cars here. PontiacDad, TaylorD, 2000SilverBullet, and Rogue. Rogue is our second quickest next to BadSSEi. Hook up with those guys and they'll get you right through it.

Some items that are available (pretty much all the stuff from a GTP works):
PCM'*
Headers (3 sources)
Rockers
Cams
Pulleys (many different types and sizes)
CAI (3 sources)
Intercoolers
LSD

And on and on.......

To start gut the stock air box and use a K&n drop in filter (@$20). Also remove the maf screen.
Do both the Throttle Posistion Sensor and Boost Bypass Solenoid adjustments found in Performance (@$0).
Intsall a 3.4" hub and pulley on the super charger (@$120)
The exhaust is the next to go, save up for headers, they are spendy but well worth it. Combined with a high flow cat you will not only gain power but fuel economy as well.
After all of this you will have found your gutted air box is holding you back, look at some of the different designs. Rogue has a Fender Well Intake, SilverBullet has a straight shot with heat shield, Both good designs.
From here you will need to look at valve train, either high ratio rockers or a cam. Both are spendy but the cam delivers more power (although more labour intensive to install).
At some point your going to want better traction and a limited slip differential is the way to go, as well as a shift kit.

Have fun, start small and pick your mods according to your budget and needs.

SOO lonely here in spot #3 :( :P

Easy performance is the pulley. Change that out and leave the stock airbox for now as you won't gain much at this point over the stock setup. Ask someone with a scanner to then check your car out for any knock that may be occuring... then we can recommend the best course for more power based on how well the car takes to the added boost.

Good luck.

Welcome to the club Tom, I can't argue with the above plan, get some cold free flowing air to the box one way to another and a 3.4 pulley to start. best bang for buck, after that, my the path lead you to a happy place.

Thanks for all the feedback. I had picked up more info from another source reaffirming the pulley (and belt) and additionally with 1.9 roller rockers with Is6 valve springs, Intense pcm, 180 stat, colder plugs and future mods to the downpipe.

I had no idea you could modify these 3800'* so much. :o
