well if the timing chain breaks it breaks, it will probably be fine. The 3800 is a non-interferance motor so I am not worried. The 1.8 rockers won't make the 3800 an interferance motor will they? Is there a place that sells a spring set that is stronger than stock but weaker than the 135#
thanks for all your help guyz

I'd just go with some OEM springs... Not only are these 1.8'* but you are not rev'n the engine higher (yet). SBC springs will work but then you are going to have to get SBC retainers too.

any SBC springs and retainers will work? you guys are right the 135 springs do sound kinda overkill thats thats almost 60 more over stock.
I will look for some SBC springs that are around 100

www.seriesoneperformance.com/valvetrain.html
they are close in comparison but the inner diameter and outer diameters don't match

The one concern I had about rasing the stock spring rate and the 1.8'* is the weight of the valvetrain. 1.8'* may be fine on a series 2 but the longer pushrods on a LN3 make for a little more reciprocating mass. I was also thinking about how mush larger the LN3'* rockers are.. but..
Now that I'm writing this I'm realizing that the rockers would be full roller and significantly lighter than stock..
So, possibly some brand new OEM springs woud be fine.

If you want pushrods, SBC 5/16" pushrods that are .20" over stock will work. Your 1.8 rocker will add a little duration when it is all said and done but very little (~6) and that is just b/c the valve will be opening sooner and closing later.
edit: Nice Sig... Also you get that w/p pulley on yet?

Yes they will work... But If you go with those I'm pretty sure that you will need new retainers. I'd PM Dr. J But I'd just go with stock, it will be alot easier.

I have emailed Dr. J and gave him a link to the thread. He recommended the 135# springs and SOP only offers stock and 135#
so I will let you guyz know.
