What can be removed from our Bonnie to make it lighter for racing.

That is other than the obvious seats, spare+tools.

Empty the glovebox, and remove the spare change from the glove box. Then if you're really crazy, remove your passenger seat. If they'll let you, take the 3 doors you're not using off, and your spoiler.

Remove 3 of the lugnuts off of each tire......and your rear brake drums. They only do about 30% of the braking anyway.

Some of these were a joke, some serious....but in all seriousness......it depends on whether you're gonna drive the car daily. I'm a firm believer in taking a car to a track with everything except the jack and spare. Removing more kinda defeats the purpose.

LOL, those are some great tips willwren. I was thinking also about removing the radio, dashboard cover, all carpeting. Replace the drivers seat with plastic racing seat. Get a carbon fiber hood too (do you they make those for a bonnie?).

Actually, carbon fiber or fiberglass hoods are available. Spendy, but you can get them. Are you building a track car, or is this also an everyday driver?

The little things can add up. Keep your ws reservoir empty. Remove the engine cover to help it cool, or add mesh like I did, and others as well. Remove your left hadlight for cooler flow to the intake (and a couple more pounds).

I am just kidding this is a daily driver. LOL as I said before. My track car will be a GTP,saving up for it.

I have also heard of lightening the engine itself with aluminum components. The body may be lightened too, but which pieces can go, I do not know.

Get some 14" steel wheels, mount them on some skinny tires. That will free up some weight.
I never understood why my buddy pulled the back seat from his Civic. Anytime there'* 3 or more people we have to find someone else'* car to take. If 30 pounds is making your car go noticably slower, get a better car.

I don't think that is an issue, because they are on the ground, it is everything on the wheels that is bad. In fact, bigger wheels might be better.
