I understand what you are saying Ben. I am was totally 100% sure it was the stock chip. So i emailed Ryan at gmtuners and told him i wanted a list of thigns he needed for a scan to get atleast a baseline chip and that way we could get started at tuning. And he told me, he was sure a chip wasnt going to cure my problem (atleast that is what he said he believed) and it was soemthing else. Because of the free reving causing knock. So i sent out 2 emails to 2 different companies. Giving a breif overview of what is going on and a link to my performance thread. Both companies said it wasnt anything to do with the pcm and it must be false knock. I mean at this point i am puzzled, i felt the same way you did. Tonight i am getting the pcm out of my black car and i am going to try that, it cant hurt.
As far as things i have tried
checked Fuel pressure
cleaned all sensors (and tried the ones from the other motor also)
changed the cat
Did new plugs and wires
and a few other things, but i lost my train of thought.
It isnt like i am not trying other things, but everytime i think i have the problem pinpointed i am thrown another way.
PS- i am working at a decent job again, so money isnt really a factor, atleast not right now.

I'm still maintaining that it'* a tuning issue with your PCM. Since when has any stock 3800 PCM ever been able to adjust enough for a huge change like a cam? As far as I can remember, it hasn't happened.

I want to pipe in here a little bit..
On my 95, with the Wrist Pin wearing and causing some unwanted noise, the PCM would pull timing even when it was cold... It was killing off the timing as low as 2700-2800 Rpms.. Even after a cold start it was using the Knock sensors..
Now I also am in the frame of mind that there is a good possibility that he may be flowing more than the Stock tables can keep up with..
Go ahead and get that PCM swapped out from the other car into the current car and see what if any changes that may provide.. After all that swap is free..
If you still have the knock then you have to know if its false or real..
And on a cold start he is running rich... So again once warmed up it could leave the possibility that he is running lean and getting KR..
On my car which has the Ported Lower, Shaved Throttle Body, Plog on the front, Ported Mani on the rear and a High flow cat, along with an FWI... My fuel trims stayed quite close to what it was supposed to be... Even though I am flowing more than I did stock, I don't have a cam to bump the valve open further and for a longer duration..
I am watching this and paying attention for future tuning...

Well that is what i was thinking about the tuning. Because on open loop when i dont have any KR my O2'* are in the very high 800'* to low 900'* (like 870-910) and no KR. Then closed loop, O2'* go down into the high 700'* low 800'* and i have the 15 degrees of KR. I get paid on friday and i am going to order a chip. It cannot hurt.

I took some scans for ryan at gmtuners. In open and closed loop. He is going to look them over and get back to me tonight. Shawn (dbtk2) through this idea at me "you need some work to your AE tables because maybe it isn't giving you enough fuel right away when you hammer on it". Anyone have any imput on this?
Either way i am going to start tuning. I told ryan i would get him the scan data and i wanted to start tuning. I dont care if it fixes the problem, at minumium it has to help it some.

Nah, Don. Just dont like loosing to my brother . Hence the reason why i had him get supercharged. That way i HAD to mod more
Here is some scans from today
open loop
http://www.scandepot.net/viewscan.php?pk=4439
closed loop
http://www.scandepot.net/viewscan.php?pk=4440
You can see a few question marks in there that through me for a loop lol

Almost looks like you could be flowing beyond the ability of the MAF or the EPROM program...
Also just being curious.. At what point are the L36 injectors done? As in how much HP can they support?
