Default Jet Chip VS Hypertech VS No name

Ok. I've decided my Christmas gift to me .. from me is going to be a performance chip. I've read a good bit about what they do and don't do.
It is my understanding that on a SC'd setup such as mine they basically do
6 things to gain performance .

1. Advance timing
2. Change fuel curve to match.
3. Change shift points and firmness
4. Change Torque Convertor lockup RPMs
5. Lower fan turn on temps
6. Remove boost later.

With that being said ... I'm not sure how Jet is different from Hypertech .. from
GMtuners ( 40 bucks ).
Anyone have any ideas ? Which one do you have ?

I'm not sure what Hypertech has to offer, and Jet doesn't advertise a 92 SSEi chip (93 chip won't work for you), although they'll burn you one if you give them the codes from your PCM.

You won't change the lockup rpm'* on your TC. That remains the same, but ultimately, you get what you pay for. I'm very happy with the Jet Stage 2. In comparison to your list:

1. Advance timing
Jet does this, but at a cost. You may have to bump up your normal octane a notch. Especially on hot days.
2. Change fuel curve to match.
Yes. Jet does.
3. Change shift points and firmness
Considerably. Fuel curves are raised to match the new shift points. On hot days, however, you may not be able to use performance shift, as the power drops off before the higher shift. I'm still working on this, but need more hot weather to firm up my conclusions.
4. Change Torque Convertor lockup RPMs
I'm not aware of any chip that does this.
5. Lower fan turn on temps
That'll be custom programming. You really want a manual switch if you plan to ever run at the track. I'd just go that route, and you won't need a custom chip. You can save money by buying off the shelf.
6. Remove boost later
Jet doesn't do this. But it DOES remove the boost dump (overboost protection).

Jet also raises the top speed limiter. It does a few more things....You'd have to dig up some of my old reviews after I installed it. They're around here somewhere, covered in dust.

Hope that helps.

I've talked to the Jet guy'* ( at your recommendation in an earlier post ) They can burn a chip
for my 1992. Hypertech " say'* " they change those things I mentioned.
Tell me about the hot days with the Jet chip. I live in Georgia and it gets HOT down here in Atlanta traffic sometimes. Is it worth the money ?

The heat will only be an issue at the dragstrip. And you can compensate buy running higher octane. Either mixing race fuel, or making your own. Heat makes KR worse.

Normal driving, it won't make any difference at all, so don't sweat it. We don't have any experience with the Hypertech here, but alot of experience with the Jet. DrJay and I are both running the Jet Stage 2. That should tell you something
