alright i found a better pipe at autozone, i got it, im picking up the filter tommorow, can i run it without a heat sheild for a little while until i can make one?

The filter in that pic is ****. I bet ten bucks it'll hold water.
Get a K&N or other REPUTABLE name-brand filter. Get a heatshield as soon as possible. The RX-4750 makes it very easy to mount a heatshield.

this is the intake i got, a little overpriced IMHO at $40 but it seems to be average price for intakes, it feels higher quality than the one at pepboys, it came with a coupler, a 2.5 reducer, a breather hose, and a bracket, didnt come with any shitty filters and the the caps and coupler are plain black instead of the bright blue of the pepboys one, its has a better angled cut too, i tihnk it will make a fine intake

Most aftermarket air filters are made for the ricer crowd. They go for looks. Most of them flow worse than a stock paper filter, and in some cases, MUCH worse.
Ricers don't ususally know this, cuz they're too stupid to figure it out, or their engines don't flow enough to notice anyway.
