The filter in that pic is ****. I bet ten bucks it'll hold water.

Get a K&N or other REPUTABLE name-brand filter. Get a heatshield as soon as possible. The RX-4750 makes it very easy to mount a heatshield.

lol, if you looked at the rest of my post you would see i was also getting the k&n rx-4990 besides, another tihng about that pepboys kit is that the filter they show in the pic isnt the one was in there, the one in there seemed to breathe well enough, maybe even too much, it seemed like it might be loose enough to let dust thru, either way i was never planning on using that filter

this is the intake i got, a little overpriced IMHO at $40 but it seems to be average price for intakes, it feels higher quality than the one at pepboys, it came with a coupler, a 2.5 reducer, a breather hose, and a bracket, didnt come with any shitty filters and the the caps and coupler are plain black instead of the bright blue of the pepboys one, its has a better angled cut too, i tihnk it will make a fine intake

How big of a dif would the Rx-4750 make over my "God Knows What Brand This Is" cone filter that came with my kit?

Most aftermarket air filters are made for the ricer crowd. They go for looks. Most of them flow worse than a stock paper filter, and in some cases, MUCH worse.

Ricers don't ususally know this, cuz they're too stupid to figure it out, or their engines don't flow enough to notice anyway.
