what you can do to fix that a bit its to get shorter tire my stock tire where 26.9 inches now my new tires are 25.9 inches so this lower the car half a inches and help gearing at the same times i know youre where looking for new rim and tires .for me that improve my 60.foot time from a 2.40 to 2.23

Have thought of it, but I don't want to be throwing off my speedometer that much. Drive a lot in many laser and radar infested areas, so having a good speedo is a nice thing. :)

Just as an update,I have been running it for a few days now, and it certainly is stronger. Stronger and smoother, with better throttle response.
Only bummer is that it is a horsepower mod, not a torque mod. Down low, where I need the help, it really did nothing. Again, it is gearing that it killing me. These gears might have been ok on the torquier L27's, but on the L36 they are just way too tall. I am willing to bet the move to 3.06's would cost me nothing in fuel economy. In the Olds, the EPA showed them to be the same. I can see why. Wouldn't have to be forcing downshifts all the time to get power.
Anyhow, all grumbling aside, the P&P LIM is a good mod!

funny on mine its gave me some more low end by the way of much better throttle response and in second gear also i think jr3800 told me the same thing

There probably is some more torque, but I am so dead low down, that I might not be able to feel it. Tall (2.84) gears. Stupid heavy Olds Touring Sedan wheels. Too much lard in my car. Too much lard on me! :)

Yeah you have a Heavy C Body.... and those 2.84 gears are killing you.... The 3.06 would be perfect... I think for your application 3.33 would be a little overkill, But I have thought about it myself....

I have better throttle response, and a little more go in the low end... But it was most noticed with the improvement of 2nd gear pull...

2.84 to Firebuicks 3.05 and my 3.06 is a bit of a stretch... 2.84 is all about the fuel economy

oldblue are you orgasmdonator on the gpclub that says youre ported intake give 15plus horsepower if so i like to know how you got those numbers

willwren 07-20-2007 09:28 PM

That's who he is over there. ;)

I'd be curious about those numbers too. And at what RPM.

I've made some estimates based on the known restriction area and flow (cross-sectional area) gain, but I hope you're not using my posts and estimates here to brag it up over on ClubGP.

ANd, to be honest, I think it is all about economy in the lab, not on the streets. Instead of just pulling along in whatever gear, I am constantly forcing downshifts. Almost as stupid as the mid 80's V8 Chrysler Fifth Ave's with the 2.26 gears. Rated 26 mpg on the highway. Sure. Maybe at 55 on miles and miles of dead flat road. Real world, the gearing totally killed it, and trashed the fuel economy.
