For the Trans Fluid, Go to Autozone and get a Case of the Coastal Dexron III.... Great stuff

That has got to be the thickest fluid I have ever seen. Your RPO codes will be located in the trunk, underneath the carpet, on top of the spare tire cover.
Nice tuneup list. Add to that (as preventative maintainance):
Take off your coils (note the order they are in), and clean that ICM real good. Check for corrosion on the terminals, take care of it, and apply dilectric grease to said terminals, then reinstall the coils. May or may not needs to be done, but will knock out any potential problems later on.
Throttle body cleanout.
Vaccuum lines. Make sure none are cooked, caked, falling apart, or busted. Replace ANY that seem suspect.
Also note your oil pressure readings before and after your oil change. My SSE pressure changed dramatically after a new oil and flilter change
its ok to switch to synthetic fluid as well for the transmission, i had mine flushed at 150,000 miles with synthetic and shifts quicker and crisper than ever before, also most of the jap plugs work nice the denso plugs worked great for me personally i hate copper plugs comparred to a good platinum or iridium plug. Id also look at shift kits FWI'*, downpipes exaust and rockers if you have 2 grand to spend youll still comeout under budget

Shift kits can only be used during a trans rebuild for our cars. And platinums tend to not agree with our ignition systems.
That said, all the other upgrades can come with time. And if the budget is only 2 grand, that can go pretty far if you do the work yourself.

i noticed my ride ran alot better with denso'* than autolie coppers alot smoother i have since upgraded to iridiums cant complain one bit at all however the spark plug debate is not fully solved with these engines so anything still goes

If its a Boosted application Stay away from Platinum... Either Copper or Iridium...
If its an L27 like this one is... Steer Clear of Bosch Platinums...
Autolite, NGK, AC Delco and the like.... Copper, Plat or iridium will be fine

Stay with conventional trans fluid.
Maybe you should try to back that rumor up with some research for us.
In the meantime, any name-brand non-synthetic trans fluid is suggested. And there'* really nothing to be gained in performance or longevity with a fluid. If you want to do that, add an external trans cooler and bypass the loop through the radiator.
