How much do balding tires kill performance?

Hey Comfy.. you always seem to be looking for a way to save another pound or two. Think about how much weight you are saving when you have crappy bald tires.

Hey Im not that bad, I still have an interior and the front bumper beam.

Couldnt find the right tool to remove the fronts

Bald tires don't do the same as slicks, they just burn out better, but they don't grip better. When I used to drag race my old Ford Focus, I did a lot of burn outs with my stock tires, made them sooooo bald, then went to the strip. I was faster with my 18s on street tires then I was with the 15s on bald street tires. The 18s were a little wider, but the 15s looked like slicks.
