I believe you, but man that was a fluke run. That would be like a Ser2 L67 running a 13.9, stock. Yes its happend and this proves that all, even the same type of engine , is different. Theoreticly, a 170hp, 225tq 3500lb car would run mid 16'* in the quarter. For every 100lbs of weight removed is a tenth in the quarter. Another thing to mention is wind. I know for a fact that my car (any car i've owned) is MUCH faster on the highway with a 40mph tail wind. You're trap speed is UNGODLY for a L27 70mph+ is where tail winds help the most. Lets just say that gutting you're car and putting in ultra premium unleaded isn't gonna take a second of a quarter mile. Unless you removed 500-700lbs of stuff? Like I said I believe you, its just you had the aid of something more to get you there.

I mean, I'd have to admit, this does seem somewhat 'unrealistic', but this is pat'*, what, 2dn, 3rd time at a track? I'd hope that I would drop a second after learning how to drive my car. Your not going to get your best 60 first or maybe even second time at a track. It takes time to get used to it.(from what I've heard)
So such a massive drop in time dosen't suprize me. I'll never be 100% that it actually happened without a video but that'* just me.

The issues in doubt here may be related to track timing circuits. In order to post that time, his car would have to be developing over it'* stock 170hp AT THE WHEELS. Even if he lightened to 3200 pounds.

My hope is that I can dissect each timing segment of each run for a freakish anomoly to chalk this up to. I'm printing them all and I'll run a bunch of numbers.

Oh yea, most definitly. That would be over 208hp in a 3200 lb car to run those times. 170hp just won't cut it. That would be a pretty decent time for a stock 92-93 SSEi.

Isn't it very simple? If the car can run the time he probably has a factory freak or had exceptional conditions when he ran. Or the car ran the time free and clear. Speculation will not yield an answer or cause the doubters to feel better. The only way to resolve it is if and when he goes to the track again, then we will know the truth. As for right now I believe that we should congratulate him.

I personally think he did it and that he could do it again. I also provide the following as "food for thought".

This was last year just before we got rid of it. I unfortunately drive an escort now, and my mom drives a 2000 Century, but I thought you guys may get a kick out of this.

L27 stock, with the front headlight out, and spare tire removed on 87 gas.

God Da*&. If my 93 ran like that I would have never sold it. Man I should tell my dad to get rid of it before the engine blows. Because I had a hard time ousting semi'* in races. There must be something SERIOUSLY wrong with the poor old 93'. He*&, earlier I said 17s, it probably would run 18'* maybe 19'*. The mechanics all say its fine but that can't be true because its THAT slow.
