Default help ! high rpm hesitation

i changed my tranny fluid today and decided to test out the perfomance. i had my nose in front of him the whole way through first, but when my rpm got around to 4400-4500 it just hung out up there, with no power going to the wheels, like it disengadeged and didnt know which gear to go into. im guessing about every 2 of 3 times i floor it like this (i really only had it about 80% to the floor) it hesitates like this in the high rpm. all the other times its a nice firm shift into 2nd, like one would expect.

getting into more detail. im suspecting through observation, that its more likely to do a desireable shift if the car is:
1. going up a hill
2. full of people
3. im towing a load
basically if the engine has a real load on it. but the other times it hesitates when its strait open road.

does anyone else experience this phenomena?

Try using some of the other speeds like 1,2, or 3. They are meant for use under just such conditions as you describe.

Default Same problem here

I am having the same problem here. About every 3 out of 5 times that I step on it, the tranny seems to not want to shift and then, after about a second or two of holding the rpms at the max, it finally switches gears. I will check the fluid tonight, checked it about three weeks ago when it first started and it seemed at the right level. Will check back soon to see what others have found out. I hope my tranny isn't going bad I just got the car last may!

Default high RPM hesitation

Ok I did what you said to and the tranny fluid is right where it should be. Any other ideas?

I may be wandering here, but normally a hesitation like you describe would be caused by an ignition problem. Plugs, wires, or a coil.
