Grand Prix GT trans in SSE?

Default Grand Prix GT trans in SSE?

Well, since my trans is starting to give some somewhat sloppy downshifts, and upshifts (on occasion) I'm thinking that since I'll probably be putting a used trans in (can't quite afford a rebuild -sadly, as I'd love to have the guys who redid the my 4T65E HD redo this trans) I might just get a low mileage trans from a GP GT (3.29'*).
I would just have Intense program the PCM for those gears, but I'm mostly wondering if the trans will drop right in my SSE?
I know it will bolt right up to the motor, but how about the cradleH-body mounts? And the wiring?

I can do a lil research for you at work tomorow and see what my computer says that can interchange....But I think that the CV shafts would be different and so would the mounts on the K Frame.......I'll do some digging tommorow and get back to you with what I find..

I searched www.car-part.com and it doesn't interchange as far as the cars the trannies are out of, but I'm assuming that is because of the gearing.

Would my tranny have the same mounts? I have a spare I can measure and stuff for you.

Car part doesn't really give an actually interchange between two different parts....Just between multiple cars with the same part. My part system at work lets me do some mixin and matching of stuff.

It should have all the provisions for both bodies. I can't believe they'd make two seperate castings because of diferent mounts. You will want to keep yo\ur half shafts and such.

We need to compare individual gear ratios, final drive ratio, and such.

If the individual gears are different, I'd say forget it, but if it'* just the final drive, you can keep your original diff. Halfshafts for sure will be different, as already stated.

These are all the same case casting, they'll just have different gear setups, and maybe even a different TC for different ratios/weights of cars.

Tranny from a GP GT would most definitely not work, but maybe one from a GTP would. GP GT & GTP use slightly different version of same transmission...GTP'* tranny is designed to handle the extra power of the supercharger I believe.
