hi

while the filter may very well last 250k, one wonders about the engine.

try using a higher flow paper filter like Baldwin or Hastings.

What are the price comparisons? I know the k&n flow well but the cost can be high?

I guess I'll let others try them and report on them before I totally berate them, but then again, they are just a fram.

hi

think carefully on this, as these "permanent" type filters have not tested well in used oil analysis for Si levels.

So dont use the filter for that long, maybe 50k miles or so. Still a lot longer then regular styles

As with anything, these require upkeep and maintenance. They must be re-oiled every so often. You cant just set it and forget it. Same with K&N.

hi

its not the filter'* longevity that conerns me, its the amount of Si that it lets into the engine.

in short, they trade filtering efficiency for flow, something i dont like for my car.
