The downpipe isn't the problem. With the motor flex, it'* the lead (yes, it'* really made of lead molded over a steel mesh) gasket between the rear exhaust manifold and downpipe. It may be very well worn out now.

The mount is very easy to replace. The easiest of all the mounts except maybe the passenger side dogbone.

I'm not surprised after seeing how much your engine moved when you brake torqued it Thursday night. Good thing you got it fixed.

Well, with one bad thing comes another....
Still having the loud exhaust noise issue from under the floorboard.
Discovered the Magnaflow resonator is the issue (see pics).
Resonator was purchasd 6/20/06.
However, I wonder if there is something else that caused this to happen?
Any suggestions? Should I go with another brand/style/manuf. ?

I didn't read all of the posts, I just wanted to put in my 2 cents...

Didn't notice the original post date.

Back when it was posted there were no mods listed either...

I would consider contacting the manufacturer and ask if this is an expected failure at this mileage/timeframe. If you word it properly..they'll probably send you a new one. Looks like a manufacturing defect or other issue...tough to tell with the pics.

Magnaflow'* site says they have a lifetime warranty on their products.
I sent both the vendor and Magnaflow my order information and hopefully today they let me know if I can swap it out under warranty.
Anyone else have their resonator fail like this?
They muffler shop tried to tell me that my muffler was too small and that was causing back pressure up by the resonator. 80 series Flowmaster 2.5" in and (2) 2.5" out.

I doubt the muffler shop is correct. There are many here running that same muffler. If anything it'* less restrictive and wouldn't cause a backup.

That'* what I thought! I looked at him like he was crazy.
I explained to him that the muffler I have is the same for a Camero.

EDIT: It was suggested to me in another forum to remove the resonator completely. They said thought it would be a little louder, it would be less restrictive and flow better. Future mod is to get headers, so that would make it too loud.

I've heard and seen some interesting diagnosis' by shops. Somedays it'* tough not to laugh at the things they come up with.

I doubt the vendor will be able to do much, but Magnaflow will probably take care of you.

Update: Finally got a hold of the vendor today. They are sending out the new resonator today. Should have it by Friady and will be installed Saturday morning.
