Default exaust

I had my bonnie on the lift to replace some bad engine bearing and while i was under the car i was looking at where the exaust manifold goes into the cats and was thinking is it possible to cut off the exaust system without causeing any problems such as back pressure problems im short on cash and im looking to free up some hp while giving my bonnie a nice sound.

bad idea...there are laws against running no mufflers and such. It will be terribly loud too.

It would help to know what model you have, and where you live, but the question has been answered already, and it WILL hurt performance.

You will loose a good amount of torque because of no back pressure.

It'll kill performance. That'* worse than the loud noise. My advice is to save all your old exhaust, because you'll be putting it on the day after you cut it off and realize you lost all your off the line grunt.
