I think if I went to that amount of work I would run dual exhaust all the way back.

IMO a 3" collector to cutout is better.

Plus I'm not looking to run dual cats/res/muffs.

I wrapped up the x-over to the Y, made a front brace, and half of a rear brace. The other rear half I need the diff cover to engine bracket for.

I'll take this stuff back to the welder soon and it should be good. I'm not going to have it coated till after I have done a test-fit. And that'* probably going to happen during the front end tear down. (who knows when)

Good news is, I do not need that mock engine/trans and cart now. So, once I get rid of that, my low mile L26 + engine stand will go in it'* place and I can get to work on that.

Crappy news is, that purdy polished side-pan that took me forever to do, and I had painted clear, has decided it wants to rust a tiny bit here and there under the clear.. So, it'* going to get stripped an powdercoated.. Probably black. At least it'* not in the car I guess.

Not sure if you want some turbo advice from a newbie but, the headers for a turbo do not need to be equal length on even a good street/strip car. A turbo plugs up the exhaust system from port to turbo and uses up all the capacity of the system. I just sold off my '73 Trans Am turbo that made 1065 hp on an old NOS set of tri-Y 1.5/8 in headers into a single 77 mm deael trubo TV 7101/8101 hybred. The turbes are near equal but off far enough that they were not a factor. The main thing is nice smooth flowing no restrictive headers. Even the stock logs will work really well. Once you get into an all out competitive build them all the equal length piping may add a small amount to the overall output. If you were going to run a turbo at the trans top location, I'd run the stock manifolds. I have a 2002 SSEi totally stock untouched so I have not really looked at the rear manifold to see what needs to be done to run it back up to the turbo. But am sure it can be done. Anywho, the equal length headers are more to help the scavaging affect in headers. A turbo system dos not use scavaging. Mark L

But I wanted to add that this is a very interesting subject and good information for me as I intend to do some mods such as headers etc. So I'm watching with great interest. Mark L

I agree with a turbo setup. Even simple logs capable of big power. Here'* the set I fabbed up for a friend:

(I can't take credit for the nice TIGing though)

My longtubes are for a somewhat max-effort n/a build.
