tell them you have a turbine fan to cool your PC. I bet if you put a filter or something in front of it you could quiet it down some.

Yup i had the whole get out... it looked pretty sweet. I even had a servo mounted to a large hole in the fromt of my case so when the fan flipped on the grates on the hole would open. When it was running (i even had filters on it didnt help the sound much) the air in my case was being completley recirculated about 6.25 times a second. So nothing ever had time to get warm. maybe my next mod can be some and then to add 50HP (thats like 5 GHz) Ill get some stickers....

EDIT- and BTW i uninstalled it all cause i would have to drag a huge trolling motor battery with me everywhere to run the sucker. Then i tried running off 12 6v batteries (from two golfcarts) all wired in series.... it was REALLY sweet for a little while... then it had a big long smoke tail... then it became one continguous peice of metal No more fun for me

see if you can get a little mini K&N style filter to put on the front.

Hehe... dont worry about it Yeah way too many volts (12 6 volt batteries = 72 volts = armature windings get REALLY hot = bearings cant take it, they buckle = lots of friction between the armature and the can = so much heat all the internals pretty much welded together )

Hey guys. I'm usually all into this brainstorming thing. But what I keep thinking about here is weight. AC motors are heavy, and you're talking about adding voltage inverters and larger batteries too.

Seems to me this is all good if you manage to build it then refine it over time, and you might evolve something that is truly cool. But if all you want is more pep, and not the nobel prize for mechanical innovation, you'd be better off with a CSC or Turbo.

I ruled out using an AC electric motor because it would just have to be too big to run it. I saw how big the one that they used to test the hybrid M90 and they couldnt even get it up to max RPMs. I was thinking about those little DC motors that they sell off Ebay. Does anyone know off the top of their head how much they are and how much power they take?
