Default Dyno questions! (Help me)

I'm looking to build my own dyno... j/k

I'm possibly getting on one this week. It reads lower then most, a Viper only pulled 300HP last year, so who knows what i'll see. Any recomendations? I'd like to see the differences between a stock intake and the one I fabbed up. From what i've seen most pull 3800'* pull the best in 2nd gear, but my HOT ROD magazine i just got, says that the 1:1 gear provides the best pulls.

Should I warm up the car? With my intake it gets way more power at warm up....

Do they hookup anything to the OBD I port normally?

I'd suggest not warming it up, although it will warm up fast revving it up. Keep the ice on the upper intake and the CAI pipe between runs with the engine off, but the key in the run position with the A/C fan on high. Also, see if you can get a big fan turned on high blowing into the CAI (healight and headlight bucket removed removed).
If you can get it into third I'd suggest using third, although on the OBD I you may not need to go into third to ahcieve max hp or torque since there is very little torque management in the computer.

Where you getting it dynoed? I should bring both Ol Blue and The Addiction down there for some pulls since no doubt it'* cheaper there (the guy in town here with a chassis dyno wants $125 PER PULL!!!!!!!).

I would leave it in 2nd and try and cool the engine before hand. I would not turn on the a/c, leave the cooling to the dyno'* fan(*). Its a short pull and you shouldnt build that much heat.

Just to clarify what I meant by turning the ac on -with the engine off between runs have the ignition in the run position (engine off) with the AC on so both cooling fans go on high to cool the coolant in the radiator.

Sorry, I should have clarified this better in my original post.

I'm hoping i can throw willwren'* cooling fan switch stuff on before i pull.

I don't have ECC so i don't know if my AC kicks that in. I'm not gonna be icing anything, but the hood will be open, and the fans going.

My suggstions, hot lap the car and get it to operating temp. You dont have a SC so you dont have to worry about heat soak. Get it into second gear and get it up to about 3300 rpm before you floor it so it doesnt kick down to first (you may need to play here to find what your kickdown point is). They normally do not hook anything up to your diag port, but i usually have my scantool running on it. If you do wideband 02 testing they stick a probe in your tailpipe (they lube first ). Leave it in second and run it right to the limiter.

Also it doesnt matter what your pulling compared to the magazine as long as you pull a baseline with your original airbox then pull another with your new box and compare THOSE numbers you will have a decent idea on your gains.
