Autozone was selling an open box ricer filter for $10 so I said, "what the hell" and I bought it. It has inserts so you can put it on a 3, 3.5 or 4 inch pipe. When I got it home I said "what the hell" again and put it on the TB. I took it out for a test drive and wow, the car has some serious pull to it! I'm not going to leave it like that because of the heat. I may just get 2 feet of tubing from Intense and put it in the fender well.

I suggest a water test. Pull it off and fill it with water. See how well it drains.

Yup, thats why I took it off. I just wanted to test drive it with the filter directly on the TB to see how it would sound. I'll put in the fender well when I get the Intense tubing.

Do the water test. We did that with DrJay'* car up in Seattle about 3 years ago, and it HELD water. It was an Autozone ricer filter as well. Many of the cosmetically 'pleasing' filters out there are all show, and no go. They are a restriction.

The 'serious pull' may have everything to do with the laminar flow and nothing to do with the volume of air, or be totally in his head. Would he have really noticed if someone had put it on there without his knowledge?

How can an air filter add performance that can be felt? An air filter alone can't possibly add more than 3-5 horsepower. The common threshold for feeling it is about 10hp. Unless his stock airbox and filter were horribly restricted/dirty......well, you get the picture.

A good quality intake and filter is a must for a car running higher than stock boost, but there'* alot of things to consider. Heatsoak for instance can kill more than 5-10hp.
