Didn't know you had that much tq! But the 98 I think is lighter, and maybe you just need some new wires and/or plugs...?? And miles on the odometer could be a factor?
But it was another Bonne so don't feel so bad though! I'm going to race a stock 99 SE, and with my mods below I still may not beat her since she has about ~20hp more. But I'm only doing it to see how fast mine is now, compared to the series II.

Well, you never know what that car had under the hood. It could have been nicely modified. Also, the SE models are very light. An SSE like yours is very heavy, because you have all the extra goodies. Weight may have played a huge factor.

The other guy don't even know whats under his own hood. He just keep on braggib=ng about "I got a Series II, your Series I ain't ****!" I say if my car was in better condition, I would have at least kept up or left him. I thought I could take him though. I will wait until everything is fixed under the hood before I go at it again.

You should have taken him...even with the weight difference. I think it has to do with mileage and tuneup more than factory specs.
I hope you get him next time.--better yet, borrow my SE with the Series I

BTW, how close was the race anyway ssesc93? Did he smoke you or was it pretty close? I would also say you just have minor tune-up things to ake care of. I bet you'll shut him up when you win the next time.
