Default Day at the track 11/1/03

Hi All,

Well I finally brought my Bonnie to the track on Saturday. Since it is still totally stock I was not expecting to get really good times, but it does give me some base line numbers to compare to once I do add some mods. The only prep I did to the car was to remove the spare tire and jack for weight and remove the engine cover to let heat out.
My first run was the best, the car was cool but I forgot to turn off the traction control and I really felt it kick on during my launch. I was racing a late 60'* Plymouth GTX that looked really sweet. My slip is as follows:
........................... Me ....................... GTX
RT......................1.194 ......................1.261
60......................2.475 ......................2.347
330...................6.836 ......................0.000
1/8..................10.449 .....................9.996
MPH.................66.83 ......................71.20
1000................13.558 ...................12.986
1/4 ..................16.159 ...................15.494
MPH ................86.46 ......................90.65

Here is a picture of the launch on my first run. I beat him at the light at least. It was the closest race of the day for me.

I got a total of 4 runs in and each one got slower as the car got hotter. This was the 1st time I have ever seen the temp go over 200 degrees. By the time I left the temp was in the low 80'* and the car was just not cooling off between runs. My other times were 16.433 @ 84.53, 16.594 @ 85.07, and finally 16.763 @ 80.86.

My second race was against a new Subaru WRX, those things are fast as hell he got a 13.937 @ 96.43, third race was a 65 GTO he got a 12.386 @ 95.19, and the 4th race was solo.

Even though I lost every race it was still fun to be there with my little racing buddy.

There are a few more pictures from the day on my car domain page.

Those are some great times Mario!! I ran only .2 quicker in the 1/8th with a sc.
Next time freeze some 2 litre coke bottles with water to pack around the engine in between runs, cools the motor down quickly
Glad you had fun and took your familly out to the races, your boy looks like he had a blast

No kidding, those aren't bad times for a stock 00 SE at all! Way to go! Hey, do they let Jr ride with you?

That does sound like a good idea. I should have probably waited between runs, but since it was a test n tune day you could line up and race again right after you finished your run.

No I don't think that Jr could go, he really wanted to though. The tech inspector wasn't even real happy that I left his booster seat in the car.

At the time they didn't seem that good when everyone around me was running low 15'* and better. I even saw a car run a 9.1 1/4.

Willren are there other 1/4 mile times posted somewhere so I could see where I stand? I saw the 1/4 sticky post but there don't seem to be many times there.

Sounds like you had a great time at the track. That'* awesome.

I have never tried the frozen 2 litre coke bottle trick, I just pop my hood open between runs. That seems to work for me.

Those are good times for a stock '00 SE. I'd say you are right where you should be, or a tad faster. I have heard of some stock SSEi'* running around 15.6 to 15.8 seconds. Although there are many conditions that come into play, I would be happy with my results if I were you.

BTW, I think my stock SSEi juices in the evenings when I am not around.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Well these are base line stock numbers, I think there is room for improvement once the mods start. Also my car only has 16,800 miles so maybe when it breaks in a little more that might help too.

2000_GalaxySSEi 15.069 @ 92.659 and stock.. .dag gone that'* great!

Thanks Mario. I was very plesantly surprised. I thought I was going to be in the low 15 second range, but the 15.069 kept me smiling for a long time.

BTW, as soon as I get pics of my Bonne, I will post the timeslips.

Those times look great. You may want to take out you back seat, as I believe it is relatively easy to remove for your car.
