Default Cooling

What are some things that I can do that would help my engine stay cooler in the upcoming hot weather. Right now I have a trans cooler and that seemed to help the tranny out alot, but the car runs best when the temp is under 200. I was thinking about the 180 tstat but that doesnt really cool the engine any more does it, it just determines what temp the coolant starts to flow. I dont want to get a bigger radiator, I bent the bracket around when I put the car in the ditch. Would a Will-Ram be workable on my car?

The 180 will prevent the initial heat saturation of the engine. It means it won't get as hot as easily. It'* not just simply a 180 vs. 195 comparison. Do that for sure. The tranny cooler is great also.

As far as willram is concerned, the SC is a much larger contributor of heat than the plastic upper intake, but above 30 mph, it also helps to force hot air out of the engine compartment. It should benefit you somewhat, just maybe not as much as a SC car. Even meshing the engine cover you have, or entirely removing it, can help with air circulation.

I'd say do a high speed fan switch for those bad days, and mesh, or remove the cover. Then see how you like it.

will the high speed fan make a difference when I am on the highway? This is when most of the heat occurs.
