are breather caps in any way beneficial on a 3800 series II(L36)?

not so much performance but for reliability?

No, that'* what the PCV does. It'* just for looks, now.

If your pcv fails, the breather will keep you going. But I still swear that my idle is smoother with the breather, even with a perfect PCV. (on the 93).
