Which is better and why?
I am currently deciing which is a better mod.
1) A gutted Airbox
2) Fenderwell intake.
In your replies, I would also like to know WHY you think one is better than the other in your opinion
Keep in mind that cost WILL NOT be a deciding factor.
Thank you!!

Pretty much the 2 choices come down to performance. If you are looking for performance, go with a FWI, since it will pull in colder, denser air. If you are looking to hear less whine with better performance than stock, go with a gutted airbox. Just my opinion.

I just purchased a FWI for my car. I chose it because, I think it looks good, and also It seems to be good quality (it doesn't look like you made it with stuff from Home Depot) Also you would get the coolest air because its not in the engine bay.
A gutted air box is good also and it looks stock (because it is) but the FWI offers better performance, which is what I was after.

This is for your new SSEi right? If it is, might want to mention that since some of us still think you have the old black SSEi....
I would say, for starters, gut the airbox, because its a cheap mod.
after you start with mods and demanding alot of air, then spring for an FWI
so i voted, gutted.

Ok Sorry. This is for my 97. I thought with the two posts I had about buying the 97 and selling the 94 everyone would have known.
Performance is what I am after and I would assume that the Fender Well intake is the way to go.
Now if it pulls colder denser air into the engine, im wondering if that would really make any difference since the IAT sensor makes adjustments based on the temperature of the air intake.
I dont want to waste money buying a fender well intake if the gutted aitrbox is the better way to go as far as performance is concerned.
