Default Best Oil?

Well since im getting a new tranny and engine put in my baby i want to do it right. Whats the best motor oil out there? My dad wants me to get the Castrol Syntec, but seems like a bunch of people in this forum like the Mobil 1. Is there much of a difference, and i already bought the Mobil 1 fully synthetic ATF so i dont know if thats good or not either, and what about those oil additives that stp and such makes?

oil additives are worthless and may actually hurt you.

Mobil 1 owns.

Read the link, ac delco (made by wix I think) are perfect for you car and acutally outperform many brands. Do not buy fram filters.

STP are usually good from what I remember. never heard anythign negative.

I'd say use Mobil 1, although i know that our trannies don't respond well to some synthetic ATF so you may not want to put that in till either JR or Willwren pops in on this...

There has been talk that synthetic ATF in a higher mileage trans can have a bad effect on worn friction bands. I don't know of any PERSONALLY that have experienced this, but I stick to Valvoline ATF as a rule. It'* never let me down, and I'm not planning on 'testing' the synthetic idea any time soon.

For the engine, I've been running synthetic for 25k miles now.

The transmission only has about 8k miles on it so its pretty much new in my eyes so hopefully the synthetic ATF wont hurt it. And how often should i change my oil if im using fully synthetic oil?
