One of the things that bugs me most about my 98 is the light, imprecise steering. I know there is the perfomance rack available from the SSEi and even the Olds Touring Sedan. My understand is that it always came with the T2V however. Now, while the T2V pump should bolt up ok, I don't know how to get the speed signal from the PCM into the pump.
Has anyone ever done this? Anyone try the performance rack with a regular pump?

its not bad if you wanted to add it....i dont remember but its a 2-3 wire hook up to make it work

GM Parts direct has the rack for only like $140. Short rack, but what can you do?

No luck on the pump tho. The part number I found was 260456. I'd hate to buy a reman from Advance or some place, but it might be the only option. They have an A1 Cardone reman pump with the Electronic Variable Orifice for $133. Want $100 for the core, so I would need to dig up a tired one before bringing it back.

Anyone know how many hours in a rack replacement?

well from what i can remember, when i wanted to do mine...the physicall PUMP is the same, the Res has the electricall connector...if you can find a T2V Res, you should be all set

No.

T2V has nothing to do with the rack. T2V boosts the line pressure from the pump below a pre-set speed identified by the VSS, and is independent of the rack.

I have the 'SSEi (don't call this FE2) rack in the SSEi with T2V. Response is GREAT on the freeway. Road feel and feedback is vastly better than the non-SSEi rack. I don't even have to steer on the freeway or high speeds.

I have the 'SE' rack on the SLE, but I also have T2V. As you can see, the two options are not crosslinked. The SE rack is a quicker rate or more sensitive if you prefer. In comparison, I feel on long trips that I'm constantly applying steering input to keep the car on the road. If it were my only car, I'd get used to it and never notice. It'* like 90% of the vehicles out there. But I prefer the other rack, and will make the change at some point. Maybe this winter.

The point is that T2V is an independent option and has no relation to the steering rack whatsoever. It only reduces steering effort or input in slow-speed maneuvering.

Also, any idea if it is possible to splice in anywhere to get the speed info the pump needs?
