Performance, Brainstorming & Tuning Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

You can cause some serious damage doing this. Do some investigating, and take it EASY on that sucker for awhile.
I was just saying that if the mods are similar than maybe the chip would be ok. But just outta curiousity....why doesn't he have the chip in his car anymore?
i dont know details, but considering we had the exact same mods, i know ill be ok...

he took out the chip, and is parting out the car, after he got a bad knock...

has an 05 comp-g gtp now...

thanks for looking out will, but how can it cause damage??

if the only changes are air/ fuel, higher shifts, and no limiter, what could go wrong??

What'll be more scary is if you kill your L67 :? ...... just make sure you're thinking about this before you do it. I know it'* easy to get the modding bug and really, really, really want to put cool stuff on your car, but it will make you feel sick if you hurt that motor. Sicker than when you went curb hunting the other night

But seriously, sleep on it for a week and then decide. Neither you nor any of us want to see you bummed out because your car gets screwed up. Don't fall prey to instant gratification. Our society doesn't like to wait for things, and sometimes it'* good to go against the grain and slow down a little. Just some thoughts; do with them what you will

Bad knock? The chip may very likely be the culprit if the timing was changed, or even the AFR. Fuel curves should have been calculated by a dyno (watching the AFR during the run), and timing advance going too far causing knock is something ALL chip burners have run into at one time or another.

That knock, if it'* caused by that chip, could very well be what took out his motor. It can damage. Find out who burned the chip. Get a scan on your car BEFORE chipping, and pay close attention to timing advance. Run a similar run in the same temp and humidity, on the same tank of gas after chipping, and note the timing advance and knock.

this does not sound like the chip could cause this... oil and antifreeze leaks first??

Oil leaks and coolant leaks can be caused by pre-ignition, knock, and detonation. Especially so if the PCM is trying to advance timing too far.

I've been asking these ?'* about other chips that people run on here and no one has given me any straight answers.

Shift points?
Added timing?
Fan turn on point?
Torque MGMT?
KR decrease rate?
Code Delete?
Trans line pressure?
Difference in performance and normal shift?

Let'* scan that biatch with both my PCM scanner and my G-tech. We can see how it changes it.
