Double check for corrosion in the Tstat seat, and also on the other end next to where the plastic/metal bypass fitting goes. Make sure the inside of that hole is smooth and clean for the o-ring to seal coming back from the heater core.

Both spare manifolds I have here have problems in both areas from sitting around in the elements too long.

Just chiming in - my 06/93 Park Avenue Ultra engine has the walled LIM, and I know it'* the factory manifold.
