FOR ALL 4T60E HD OWNERS
i have been looking for an EBCM for my traction control with none to be found other than from the dealer at a cost of $475.
well...... after talking to chris white at high performance pontiac magazine. he told me to contact scott cook at intense racing and see what he could do for me.
well.......... here is the bright spot of this post. he said that if i send him my diff. he will convert it to a limited slip diff for $299 plus shipping. and would drop my 60' times aprox .100 sec. plus in the winter, you have 2 wheels pulling instead of just switching from one to the other.
the diff is easy to remove too, just remove the right halfshaft, then a bracket from the transaxle to the motor, them remove like 5 bolts on the diff cover on the end of the trans. then there is a "C" clip you have to remove and slide it right out. mine goes to him right after labor day weekend.
i just wanted members to know that they offer this service. most just do 4T65E trans parts.

I have had first hand information stating that the pinion will break. If you are not too hard on it you should be fine but a stock 3.4l broke this very setup. The rest of the unit was fine but your pinion is the weak point. If you do this let me know how it works.

with the 4T60E HD , the final drive is built heavier to take the torque of the supercharged engines. the 3.4 motors are in the grand am'* and they have a 4T40E and the new GT'* have a 4T45E
our weak point in these final drives are the spider gears. and they replace them when they do the conversion
right after labor day weekend, in tearing mine out and sending it to them.

Ok I am going to be nice. Recently I sold a 4t60-e to an owner of a 3.4l GP. Same internals as your HD. We are making him a new input shaft and solving the pinion issue. Good luck and let us know how your unit goes.

Any of the limited slip companies can make a 4t65-e limited slip work on your car. I have gone through several different companies and even talked with some of the builders of the famous and bragged about 900hp Ecotec with a 4t65-e attached. Intense did not build that 4t65-e and the shaft used from intense was the only part they used. Not a dis. but the 4t65-e used on the eco monster is a whole different unit. The 4t60-e is also a very different monster and any limited slip provider will sell you one with your old pinion on it. Ask what they expect and if they will back the product. They might back the original parts but the original pinion is not good. I am sure for "mild" use it will be fine but there Are other GP'* with 4t60-e transaxles that have ripped apart a intense and c-y-a racing limited slip because of the weak pinion.
It is not apparent on our site but we have now made a union with two new transmission shops that provide the same product found on other sites at a reasonable price. They are going to machine my 4t60-e customer a whole new pinion and harden it. Then we will produce a half shaft equal to the competition for considerably less.
I really don’t care who you use but if you get an intense or a c-ya unit have a machine shop make you a better pinion. I warned you.
One last thing when you request this from c-ya racing they have in themselves to tell you this information up front. I am not sure what intense shares.

Just cutiours, i think i'll let it go. I don't have silly power or anything, but i like carving turns from asphalt, and i know exactly what an LSD will do for me in that dept. But i can't risk it, or afford it, specially not anytime soon.

Sorry I went of but in the end I encounter many people who have eaten other transaxles. I just didn’t want the information to be found out the hard way. Go for it regardless it is a great mod ..but be careful. We wont make our own Limited slip we will use the c-ya racing unit sold at 3800 performance and sell our pinion separately.
