Default 96 SSEI Performance

Ok i just recently purchased my 96 bonneville ssei and i want to well make it better. I have been looking at a bunch of options for a new air intake system. The one that has caught my eye is the Intense FWI.

Here is my question, is the filter exposed to the elements?

I live in Colorado. During the winter, CDOT sprays mag chloride on the roads so to melt ice and prevent ice from forming. In addition to that i am afraid that the intake might pull in moisture from the roads during the winter. The last thing i want to do is ruin my new car.

there are numberous 96-99 SSEi'* running the Intense FWI. you just have to clean the filter more often, because its open to the elements. There are no worries with water unless you totally submerge the filter in water and then drive thru
