'93 SSEi performance runs!
Finally ran some times. Figured I'd better get some 'before' data and then do some 'after' when I get the Jet Stage 2 chip. Here'* my times:
(3 run averages)
0-60 7.46
1/4 m 15.68 @ 93mph
Funny, the first 0-60 I wasn't in performance shift, and I still turned a 7.68? I also did NOT manually shift. Left it in D and went for it. Remember, my traction control is inop, also. Used a GPS to lay out the 1/4 mile, up and back for accuracy. My spotter used the stopwatch, so 'the usual disclaimers apply'. Now you can see why I did multiple runs, but I'd bet I'm well under the 5% error rate.
So basically, my slight exhaust mod, intake mod, and cooling bought me about 1/2 second on the 0-60, from stock (8.1) and about 1/2 second off the 1/4 from stock (16.1).
Over 3/4 tank of gas, and a 165 pound passenger....bunch of crap in the trunk. My 0-60 was better than I expected, but the 1/4 kinda sucked. I had a series of bad launches...but all the runs (3 of each) came in pretty close. I just got better launches on the 0-60 runs, cuz the tires were warm. I haven't modified my car much, so comparing these numbers to the Jet Stage 2 times will be rather interesting. I don't really care much, as long as I can FEEL the extra power, but I need something to compare against.
I rubbed my Bonneville down with some dry straw when we were done. Foaming at the mouth. RODE HARD AND PUT AWAY WET!

Actually, I'm pretty pleased with it all considering the advertised stock times for this old dog. I haven't done alot to get it there, either. My biggest beef with last night was the launches on my 1/4'*. I should have warmed em up a bit better.....maybe aired the tires down. A better set of tires running hot would have probably saved me a quarter second or so.
We'll see the numbers after the Jet chip.

1995 Pontiac Bonneville SE 7.1 15.4
1996 Pontiac Bonneville SE 7.7 15.8
me last night 93 SSEi 7.46 15.68 @ 93mph
me stock 8.1 16.1
Funny what a little lighter car and an upgraded motor can do, eh?
Just wait til I'm done, speedy.

Hey does anyone know how hard it is to do the timing chain on these cars? I have a 94 ssei and maybe it needs to be done. I know it doesn't run as strong as other bonnevilles with less miles on it. I need to get the performance back!!!
PM Jr's3800, or just wait for him to pop in. He'* the real tear-down wrench around here. Knows these things inside and out. Hector, too (99bonnevilleSE), and Speedguy. JR and speedguy really know the tranny'* too.
I'm learning, but nowhere near their level.
