I've heard some guys have been able to squeeze the LS6 spring on a 97, sometimes it works sometimes not. Also it seems some early 98'* wont accept the LS6 either.

Yea, the whole "sometimes or sometimes not" thing worries me. I'd hate to have the engine pulled apart then realize they won't go on.
