700?
do you guys think that 700hp is possible from the 3.8 block?
anyhew, don' t ask 'why did you pick that number, numbers are just numbers,"... just i've been toying back and forth for several days now trying to figure out just how much potential exists in the 3.8.
so what do you think?? 700? what would it take to get there?
matt

Yes. My god its possible.
If the 2JZ-GTE can take 25 lbs+ of boost on stock internals, I think with some forged pistons and rods, and a nice turbo setup you could be pushing 700-800 hp no problem. Of course, that includes ignition, full 3" exhaust, PCM updates, bada bada, etc.
Worth it? Yes
Will anyone ever do it? No

I know the highes ive ever heard of is in the mid 600 range. Check out intense racing. This would be much easier to do with a series 2 because it has a lot more support from vendors.
The 3.8l block in our bonnevilles is the same block they use in Grand Nationals. There is a local shop here i go to sometimes and their running 650hp on thier Grand National and he uses it to get around to, it'* not only a drag car. So yeah if you can find a way to put 700hp into that block it should in be able to handle it.
got boost
be prepared for lift off
