4T60 F7 version
Hello, I just joined this forum. I "was" planning to do a tranny swap on a Pontiac Fiero, I found a known good low miles 4T60 1991 Cadillac Allante F7 version, a rare transaxle, the problem is controlling this non electronic transmission with a modulator and kick down cable but... it also has shift solenoids. Could the valve body be swapped ? The F7 has stronger internals, 3.21 ratio
I don't want an electronic transaxle, could these internals be swapped into a regular 4T60 case ? Hybrid. Any idea'* or suggestions or possibilities, would be helpful. Thnx

Are you sure it has shift solonoides? From the reasearch I did the 440/4t60 are not electronic if it has a kick down and vaccum accumumilator, looks like the Allante had a early verson of traction control and had solonoides on the foward band accumulator to (unhook) power to the wheels when actavated.
Here is a link to my other forum with pics of the trans schematics, the trans model is 1KZH. I posted pics of the tag. Having difficulty getting this sorted because nobody seems to know much about this trans.

This is where I miss working for the dealer. The Cadillac dealer I used to work for had a pretty big library of the factory service manuals dating back to the 60'*. I'm sure they had the complete service manual for the Allante. Without tearing down the transmission and comparing it to a standard 4t60 I doubt your going to find someone who knows for sure the differences between them. I'm thinking you would be better finding a transmission from a 91-92 deville and if you want the 3.21 final drive pull the guts from the Allante trans and stuff them into the standard 4t60.
The Allante traction control is only on first and second gear, I understand that traction control would not usually be associated with a 4T60. I was only going to do a simple tranny swap and I'm still kinda pondering what would be possible before I come to a decision.
