Hey guys I found a guy on ebay that sells cold air intakes for around 30.00, I just ordered one up. It just comes off the tb like normal and has the sensor hole and everything and it just sits under the hood where the stock air box would. Any idea to how many hp this would bring in? Also would I actually be able to hear the intake making the suction sound? My 2.8 in my beretta I can't hear it at all. I am still running a stock exhaust system to.

If this is going on a SSEi then ya, you will hear the intake, not so much for the NA engine. Your really not going to add much if any HP, other then having a clean filter. One thing you will need to consider is the intake is in the engine bay and will be sucking in hot air.

This is actually a warm air intake because it allows the warm air in the engine bay to be drawn into the filter. The factory design pulled air from outside the engine bay though a hole in the inner fender panel. You could make that kit from ebay an actual cold air intake be making a "box" around it, separating it from the rest of the engine bay. Thrasher Performance and ZZPperformance Sell intakes like that. Those options are both over $175 so the $30 from eBay and the $25 from the local hardware store can make something comparable. Danthurs has a thread about making a box here


IMHO The best option is the JMB Fender well intake from the W-Body Store

Hey guys, I have some aluminum intake tubing sitting around in the shop and some red steel tubing up stairs. What firewall can I run the filter into? The driverside? If so, where and is there already a hole to run it threw? I am very interested in the inside fender mounting style. I gotta go to work but will be back in a few hours and can see stuff on my blackberry. Thanks in advance! I think i have a few rubber boots upstairs to to connect the pipes, I just hope there all a standard size. I figured aluminum under the hood and if i ran out I could use the steel tubing in the fender. As far as the noise, my buddy has a 2004 chevy truck with the 5.3 and his cold air intake makes alot of noise! lol Its sweet. Was kinda hoping for the same as I have a N/A setup.

Like Dan mentioned, You can't achieve anything with merely a CAI. Those internet/magazine ads that have no integrity or control. I feel like a broken record over this but going to keep vigilant about it. The popular misconception brought on by those ads sank very deep into this Forum at one time and a constant bitch to stay ahead of. A CAI in a Pontiac with no supporting mods that would require more airflow isn't going deliver much.

Saying that though, a CAI isnt a bad idea to keep fresh air coming in

Thanks for the pics! I totally understand about the power claims and stuff. I did some mods before. I just didn't know if it was necessary to cut anything to mount one in the front/fender well area or not. I will take a peek at mine and see what I can do. I'm not sure if I have that much tubing at all. Thanks for the pics its appreciated!

Dude thats sweet! My question is, how many bolts are in the head light? I took 2 bolts out, left and top one on the drivers side and it wobbled, but wouldn't come off. Is there a 3rd on the back of the fender inside the wheel well?
