Greetings everyone,
I'm considering purchasing an aftermarket tranny oil cooler on my '94 Delta 88. I haven't inspected the car closely to see if I already have a factory cooler in the radiator, but assume I do.
Regardless, my main problem is with the choices available. Rockauto has a number of them, and I don't have a clue which to choose (nor what lines to buy and where they hook up to the tranny, for that matter). A local mechanic here will do the installation, and does a good job on things, but extra knowledge at the outset never hurts. They've never seen a Delta 88 here in Bucharest.
Can anybody here give me some direction on this? It would be greatly appreciated. Considering I'm half a world away, I have to try my best to ensure what I buy is accurate and complete the first time. Regards

There isn't much difference when it comes to external trans coolers. The bigger the vehicle, the bigger the cooler. IE, big pickup trucks that tow alot vs a car. It'* just the size of the radiator really.
Some kits are designed to where all you have to do is, cut the feed line to the stock cooler, run a hose to the external cooler and then back to the stock cooler. That'* it.

I use an aftermarket 150mmx280mm cooler on my '87 Delta 88, it works just fine, I think something similar will work on your car.
I think your car will have a heat exchanger transmission cooler in the radiator anyway, but if you are considering towing with your car or putting to other hard use a bigger cooler is a must IMO.
I mounted mine in front of the A/C condensor on the side where the cooling fan pulls air through as recommended in the instruction leaflet. I agree with the makers that it'* the best place to put it.
