there is several different gm immobilizer systems, the one in your car is pretty unique to the achieva/ga/malibu body style with the bcm and security being in the IP. this will have to be bypassed when putting a remote start on it. i belive they still have the resistor but its in the ign. you have to read that resistance with a meter and pet the resistor in line with the wires to the IP and cut the ones to the ign so it thinks it has a key in all the time. as far as the gm security it is completely separate from the engine immobilizer all it does is monitor the doors and such and honk the horn if broken into, you can see if it works by rolling down the window, lock the doors with the fob, wait a min or two and open the door from the inside and that should cause an alarm. its activated and deactivated with the fob lock/unlock. that other crap is aftermarket as mike mentioned i think
