Cold Air Intake
Does anybody make a Cold Air Intake for series 1 Buick 3800 Engine?
I have a 1990 Buick Electra, and a 1990 Oldsmobile Delta 88, very similar cars. Exactly the same under the hood.
Looking for a cold air intake for either one of these cars, is there anything to gain with a Cold Air Intake?
Thanks,
Matt

Unfortunately, anything will need to be custom fabricated.
The general argument with the intake system is that it generally does not produce any perceptible horsepower gains, especially on a stock LN3 engine. The only noticeable difference would be the noise it makes, and possibly a slightly edgier throttle response. The big concern however would be to isolate the intake from the engine bay heat. The stock airbox generally does a better job of this than an open cone filter hanging out in the engine bay.
I ran an open cone filter setup on my '93 Park Avenue for a while. The noise was fun, but that was about it, unless you are cold starting, in which case the noise can be downright miserable depending on the day. The summer performance was atrocious however, especially when running the A/C.
Like I mentioned though, to be of any benefit, it must be isolated from engine bay heat.
